Gabriella Muir is one of the industry’s most respected and experienced freelance editors with a career spanning over twenty years and an extensive body of work traversing film, documentaries, music videos and television commercials. 

 

Gaby’s ‘apprenticeship’ was served at the commercial editing house THE TAIT GALLERY for three years, progressing to become an editor on high end TVCs and earning her a loyal and dedicated client base. She left after 5 years to distinguish herself as a premier freelance editor. During this time she honed her craft, excelling in performance driven and narrative based work and as a result established on going creative partnerships with a number of celebrated Australian directors including Kriv Stenders and Justin Kurzel.

 

In 2005, Gaby entered into feature and long form editing. She worked with director Kriv Stenders crafting the unique indie feature film BLACKTOWN which went on to winthe 2005 Sydney Film Festival coveted Audience Award. She collaborated with Kriv again in 2006 on the ground-breaking feature film, BOXING DAY (Adelaide Film Festival Premiere and Jury Special Mention/ Best Actor Award at the Busan and Montreal Nouveau Cinema International Film festivals). Continuing their creative partnershipKriv and Gaby joined forces on a third feature, LUCKY COUNTRY in 2009 which received two AFI nominations as well as being in Official Selection for Adelaide, Cork, Montreal, Palm Springs and St Tropez film festivals. In 2010, she extended her craft into documentary with the AFI awarded YOU ONLY LIVE TWICE directed by Brendan Young. Throughout this time she cemented her standing in TVCs as senior editor at MRPPP edit house in Sydney. 

 

Recombining her passions for both TVC and longform she has since returned to freelancing with numerous film projects in development.
